Doxycycline 50% is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that inhibits bacterial growth. It is effective against Mycoplasma and Chlamydia, and is used for the treatment of respiratory, pulmonary, and sinus infections.
Doxycycline is a broad-spectrum antibiotic belonging to the tetracycline group, which are bacteriostatic antibiotics that inhibit the growth and multiplication of bacteria. Doxycycline acts by inhibiting protein synthesis in the bacterial cell, as is the case with other members of this group.
Doxycycline is active against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, particularly those causing respiratory tract infections. It shows strong and distinctive activity against Gram-negative bacteria responsible for respiratory infections, and is especially effective against Mycoplasma and Chlamydia.
Doxycycline is characterized by rapid and good absorption from the gastrointestinal tract when administered orally via drinking water. It has a high degree of protein binding (approximately 80%), is metabolized in the liver, and is excreted mainly via the kidneys (in urine).
Indications : Doxycycline is used for the treatment of respiratory tract infections caused by Mycoplasma and Chlamydia. It is also used in the treatment of pulmonary infections, upper respiratory tract infections, and sinusitis caused by susceptible bacteria.
Dosage and Administration : Administer orally via drinking water.
Poultry: 200–400 g per 200 liters of drinking water
