is a cestocidal (tapeworm-killing) drug. Its anthelmintic activity is achieved by inhibiting glucose absorption and uncoupling oxidative phosphorylation in the mitochondria of cestodes. This disruption of the Krebs cycle leads to the accumulation of lactic acid, ultimately resulting in the death of tapeworms.
Indications :
Niclodima is an anthelmintic preparation recommended for the treatment of infections caused by various tapeworms, including Dipylidium caninum, Taenia pisiformis, Taenia hydatigena, Taenia taeniaeformis (also known as thick-necked tapeworm), Mesocestoides corti, Mesocestoides lineatus, and Echinococcus granulosus in dogs and cats.
It is also effective against ciliated tapeworms (Thysanosoma spp.), Moniezia spp., and immature paramphistomes in cattle, sheep, and goats.
