Diminazene Diaceturate for Injection is an antiparasitic medicine used to treat protozoan infections.
It's used to treat protozoal and certain bacterial infections such as:
• trypanosomiasis
• babesia infections
This medicine is recommended for livestock animals like cows, goats and sheep. It is also used to treat horses and dogs.
This drug has been manufactured as a powder for reconstitution. After reconstitution, it is typically administered by intramuscular route.
This medication should be stored in a dark, dry location under 30°C.
The reported withdrawal time is 14-26 days.
The usual dose is 3.5mg per 1kg of body weight. For infections caused by Tr. brucei, Tr. evansi and Theileria annulata, the dose should be 7mg per kg of body weight. The dose may be increased to 8mg/kg for infections caused by resistant strains. The maximum dose is 5g for one animal.
