Levamisole is a nematodicide of the imidazothiazole family, it corresponds to the levorotatory form of tetramisole. Due to its cholinomimetic mode of action by binding to acetylcholine receptors, it acts at the level of the nerve ganglia of the nematode thus causing paralysis that leads to the death of the parasite.
Indications :
Levomix is used in ornamental birds, parrots and pigeons to eliminate worm eggs and worm larvae. It is effective against all roundworms (nematodes) such as capillaria and ascaris. and also against tapeworms.
Dosage and Administration :
Pigeons and parrots: 1 bolus is administered orally.
Ornamental birds: Dissolve the bolus in 50 ml of water and add it to the water dispenser.
One bolus per bird (pigeon, parrot) and repeat the treatment after 15 days.
In severe cases, One bolus per bird (pigeon, parrot) and repeat the treatment after 8 days.
Precautions :
Do not give stones, minerals and calcium products during treatment.
Coadministration of the product with cholinesterase-inhibiting agents (organophosphate external antiparasitics) should be avoided
