Ampicillin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat infections of the gastrointestinal tract, respiratory system, and urinary tract in calves, lambs, kids, and poultry caused by bacteria sensitive to ampicillin, such as Escherichia coli, Salmonella, and Pasteurella. It is also used to treat certain bacterial skin infections.

What is Ampicillin?

Ampicillin trihydrate

Indications :
It is used to treat enteritis in calves, lambs, and kids caused by Escherichia coli, pneumonia caused by Pasteurella multocida, and infections caused by Salmonella dublin.

In poultry, it is used effectively to treat infections of the gastrointestinal tract, respiratory system, and urinary tract caused by bacteria sensitive to ampicillin, such as Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Clostridium, Klebsiella, Streptococcus, Shigella, Proteus, and Pasteurella.

It is also used to treat skin infections caused by Staphylococcus species.

Dosage and Method of Administration:
Administered orally via drinking water or milk replacers.
(Medicated water should be used within 4 hours.)

  • Calves, lambs, and kids: 20–40 mg of the product per kg body weight for 5 days.
  • Poultry: Add the amount indicated in the table per 1000 liters of drinking water:
    • Age 0–7 days: 250 g
    • Age 8–14 days: 305 g
    • Age 15–21 days: 363 g
    • Age 22–28 days: 421 g
    • Age 29–35 days: 486 g
    • Age 36–42 days: 557 g
